Mrs. Hunter worked in the medical field and started many local and state organizations, having held many offices in those organizations. She was a volunteer at Memorial Medical Center and the American Red Cross. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 32 where she held many offices including president, life member of American Legion Post 32, Sangamon Salon 225 of the eight and 40 where she was past chapeau and held several other offices. She also received the Recognition Award and the Citation for Meritorious Service. She was founder of U.S. Power Squadron Auxiliary and held the office of president seven times with the grade of Advanced Pilot, receiving several certificates of achievement from this organization. She also received Merit Marks from the Decatur Power Squadron and Land of Lincoln Power Squadron and was a member of Ladies Auxiliary Military Order of the Purple Heart of the U.S.A. Inc.
Surviving are her husband, Dale: a sister, Mignon L. Klang of Springfield: and two nieces. Remains are at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen St., where friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 1998, with services there at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 1. 1998, the Rev. Walter Cruzan officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
