John L. Morgan, Husband, Father of Poncans, Dies

John L. Morgan, husband of Mrs. Elizabeth Morgan and father of Miss Eunice Morgan, Will A. Morgan and Mrs. Anne Oulds, 615 South Osage Street, died suddenly Friday in the Fourth Avenue hospital in San Diego, Calif., after a brief illness. Morgan had lived in California the past 10 years because of ill health.

Survivors include: His widow and two daughters and a son of Ponca City; a grandson, Alfred Oulds of Ponca City; two brothers, W.A. Morgan of Fallon, Nev. and D.W. Morgan of Yuma, Ariz.; two sisters, Mrs. S. L. Guillet of Mancos, Colo.; Mrs. P.T. Guillet of Pasadena, Calif.

Morgan was born in Albia, Iowa and was married to Mrs. Morgan in Lucas, Iowa. They lived in Colorado, Montana, again in Colorado, before he went to California for his health.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock in the chapel of E.M. Trout & Sons funeral home. The Rev. Gorden Smither, rector of the Grace Episcopal Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery.

John and Lizzy married in Cleveland, Lucas County, Iowa in 1895. At the time of the 1900 census, they lived in Jackson, Lucas County where John was employed as a mine laborer, but according to the census John and Lizzy owned their home free and clear.

By 1910, the family had moved to Lafayette, Boulder County, Colorado (another mining town). By 1915, the family had moved to Butte, Montana, where John became employed as a Kelly Press Operator for the Timber Butte Mill. They lived at 307 East Front and then by 1917, were boarding at 614 South Montana. John was at this time employed as a repairman for the Mill.

By 1930, John had moved to San Diego due to ill health, and he passed away in San Diego in 1941.
