BEACH PARK, Ill. – Clyde Slay, 84, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, at the Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha, Wis. He was born Sept. 3, 1926, in Itawamba County. He had lived in Beach Park, Ill., since 1959. He married Vetris Wallace on Sept. 23, 1945. He retired from Johns-Manville in Waukegan, Ill., after 35 years of employment. At Johns-Manville he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. He was an avid deer hunter and a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Services were at Mt. Gilead Church of Christ near Golden. Burial was in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home of Fulton was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors included his children, Robert "Bob" Slay (Theresa "Terri") and SAndra Katalinick (Kirk), both of Beach Park, Ill.; his grandchildren, Christopher Slay and Michelle Torres (Jose), both of Beach Park, Ill.; his great-grandchildren, Christina, Elizabeth and Robert; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vetris, in 1996 and by 12 siblings.
