Enid, OK — No services are planned for Junior J. Slay, 73, of Watonga. Burial will be in Pinkerton Cemetery. He was cremated at his request. Arrangements are by Russworm Funeral Home, Watonga.

He was born Jan. 31, 1935, in Mount Dora, Fla., to James Marshall and Trixie Maetta Franks Slay and died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at Watonga Hospital.

He lived in the Apache area. He attended school at Elgin. After his father's death, they moved to Watonga. He worked as a mechanic, in construction, forestry and oil fields for 20 years. He married La Moyne Kay Scott in 1988.

Surviving are his wife, La Moyne; four daughters, Jenny Slay and Annie Pope, both of Oklahoma, Jackie Schweizer and Susie Slay, both of Texas; one stepson, Michael Williams of Colorado; two sisters, Willie Mae McDonald of Watonga and Stella Knight of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Willard Davis of Thomas and James Slay of Greenfield; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
