Edward Davis was born May 31, 1923, at Bear Creek, Ala., to Perry and Trixie Davis and Died Sunday, Oct. 29, 1995, at an Okeene nursing home at age 72.He was a resident of the Watonga community for 54 years where he was a truck driver for the Watonga Cheese Factory for some 30 years. His favorite activities were hunting, fishing, and buying furs. He married Shirley Ellen Callaway at Lawton on July 3, 1944. He was preceded in death by a daughter (Velma Lee Davis), a sister (Ruth Evlin Slay -note- should be 2 sisters. The other is Mary Francis Davis.), and a grandson (Jacob Evan Davis). He is survived by his wife, Shirley, Watonga; three sons, Tommy Davis of Geary, Marlin Davis of Watonga, and Hoiet Davis of Fay; a daughter Lela Allen, Geary; four brothers Willard Davis, Junior Slay and Mack Slay, all of Watonga, and James Slay, Greenfield; two sisters, Willie Mae McDonald, Watonga, and Stella Knight, Oklahoma City; 13 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Tuesday, Oct. 31, at Trinity Baptist Church, Watonga. The Rev. Jim Constant officiated. Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery at Watonga, with Wilkinson Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
