Homer Syx is actually buried in the Greenwood Cemetery next to Fraternal Cemetery in Pratt City, Alabama. It is believed that he died in Ohio and was relocated to Jefferson County, Alabama for reburial at a later date. He is buried next to his mother, Matilda Gessel Syx Clark.

On Saturday Morning, September 13, 2014, Paul Frederick Syx, his wife Cynthia Syx, Tim Irwin and I successfully repaired and resurrected the marker at Matilda and Homer's burial site in Greenwood Cemetery, to it's original stature. Although most of the pieces of the marker had been lying on the ground for an unknown length of time, only one small chip was broken out of the top flower bowl. Paul and Tim worked very hard leveling and adhering the monument together. They are both gr gr nephews of Homer Syx.
