Minnie Belle "Crosier" Fitzsimmons, 91, of 312 1/2 Third Ave. Hinton died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday March 21, 2006 at Summers Appalachian Regional Healthcare in Hinton following a long illness.


Born October 19, 1914 at Union, she was the daughter of the late Cyrus Peck & Minnie Zula Hoover Crosier.


Crosier, as she was known to all, was a graduate of Union High School, and moved to Hinton to attend the Hinton Hospital School of Nursing. After her matriculation from Nursing school, she was a graduate registered nurse for Drs. Bigony & Stokes in Hinton. While serving their office, she assisted in many home visits while they practiced in Hinton, and Summers County. She then went to work for Hinton Hospital, and remained there her entire career until the hospital closed in 1977. Crosier also served the health care needs of many shut-ins in the Hinton area while her health permitted. She was a member and active parishioner at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hinton, and served as an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist, a member of the Altar Society, the Welcoming committee, and the Women of St. Patrick. She was a former member of the Catholic Daughters, and the Hinton Hospital Nurses' Club. Crosier also enjoyed making wreaths and candy for many people during the holiday season.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe G. Fitzsimmons on January 2, 1968. Also preceded by five brothers, Virgil, William, Marston, Clinton, and C.P. Crosier. Two sisters, Zula Jane Crosier and Glenna Poteet.


Survivors include one son, Dick Fitzsimmon & wife Carol Anne of Birmingham, Alabama, Two grandsons, Scott & Eric Fitzsimmons, both of Birmingham, one granddaughter, Jill Meador & husband John of Birmingham, two great grandchildren, David Fitzsimmons and Keating Meador, both of Birmingham. One sister, Virginia Core of Huntington, a very special sister-in-law, Virginia Crosier of Union, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends very dear to Crosier also survive.


Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday March 24, 2006 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hinton with Rev. Arthur Bufogle as celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday evening at Pivont Funeral Home in Hinton, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.


Grandsons & Men of St. Patrick Parish will serve as pallbearers.
