Henry Arvin was born November 7, 1787, in Charles Co, Maryland. On New Years Day, 1810, Henry, age 22, married Theresa Montgomery, age 21. He served during the war of 1812. He was a cooper who weighed over 400 lbs and therefore was incapable of performing farm work. Henry moved his family to Washington Co. in Kentucky, near the little town of Loretto in 1816. Over the next decade Henry and Theresa's family prospered in Kentucky. Many of the Arvin Family moved into Indiana about 1845. Henry, Theresa, Elias, Catherine, and other Arvins including Joshua O, Richard, Sylvester, and others, took up farming in Reeve Township, northeastern Daviess Co., Indiana, near Mt.Pleasant and Alfordsville. Henry purchased 40 acres of "Congress lands" as did others in the family, as was his right as a veteran of the war of 1812. Henry and Theresa lived peacefully the rest of their lives on the land in Daviess Co. Henry and Theresa celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on June 18, 1860. He is buried in a peaceful area of the Arvin family plot of the old St. Martin's Catholic Church Cemetery on old Mt. Pleasant Rd. Theresa Arvin died on June 20, 1871, and is buried beside her husband.
