Isaac Marion Ellis went by his middle name, Marion Ellis. He is the son of William Shipley Ellis and Eleanor Hughes. He married Mildred Melinda Bailey Nov. 1, 1849 and they had at least five children:

William Hiram Ellis
John Harvey Harrison Ellis
Martha Ellen Ellis
Sabra Elizabeth Ellis Holder
Virginia Lee Ellis Holder

"Marion Ellis, at age 34, was hanged from a tree during the Civil War by the Boonville Militia. Marion was one of General Price's men and was enjoying an approved furlough. The militia thought him a deserter. He was taken down by his wife and sons and buried with the help of a neighbor. Some years later one of his sons returned and built a fence around this small plot of ground. Now, however, there is no sign of the fence and it is just a place in the feed lot where a few tombstones are left. There is no one living who knows just how old this place is, but it is thought to be almost ninety years ago that it was first used as a burying ground." [SOURCE: Burial listing for Ellis Cemetery #2, Clear Creek township, Cooper county, Missouri. It is a little plot of ground on the Bruno Loesing farm. (The listing was found in the Boonslick Library in Sedalia, Missouri. The date of this document is unknown.]
