Earl Clem, 55, of 217 Election Street, Benton, custodian at the Union Hospital in West Frankfort, died at his home at 11:10 p.m. Sunday. Formerly employed as a coal miner at the Orient #1 mine, he was the son of the late William H. and Ollie Clem. He was a member of the West City Baptist Church and of the Masonic Lodge at Thompsonville. He is survived by his wife, the former Fern J. Dorris and two sons, Jimmie Allen Clem of Abilene, Texas and Jerry Earl Clem of Fort Riley, Kansas. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Drake Funeral Home with Rev. Paul E. Dann and Rev. Howard Todd Taylor officiating. Internment will be in the East Fork Cemetery and the body will lie in state at the funeral home.
