Marcella Sally Boettcher
.
There is a new angel looking down and keeping watch over us. Marcella Magdalena Boettcher, lovingly known as 'mum', 'great-grandma-mum' or 'Sally' joined the ranks of angels on Monday, September 23, 2013.

With family at her side, she passed away at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Dar and Lee Schuff, in Neenah where she lived for the past year.

Mum was born June 16, 1916 to Fred and Erma (Gadicke) Abitz at the Abitz homestead in the Town of Brillion. She was baptized and confirmed at Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church in Brillion. She attended Brillion schools until Scarlet Fever forced her to miss a year after her Sophomore year. Mum was saddened to not graduate and was always supportive of schooling, encouraging her family to get a good education. She was an avid reader, keeping abreast of current events and trends.

On January 28, 1933, she married the love of her life, Wilbert Fred Boettcher, always known as Jesse, at the Friedens Church in Brillion. Dad worked for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad Lakeshore Division as a signalman. They lived in many towns and cities in Wisconsin along Lake Michigan, moving frequently. Mum and dad loved to travel by car or train, play cards and socialize with friends. They returned to Brillion when disability forced his retirement.

When dad was disabled, mum went to work at the Sentry Store in Brillion and at Theda Clark Hospital in Neenah until she had to retire to provide full time nursing care for dad. Mum was a deeply caring person and was a caregiver not only to her husband but to her mother and her mother-in-law. She touched many lives in a very special way.

Following dad's passing in 1990, mum travelled by train, RV, plane or car, coast to coast and border to border. Her helicopter ride to the top of a glacier in Alaska was especially memorable for her. She enjoyed cruise ships too but trains were always dear to her heart.

Mum loved cooking and baking, her flower gardens, sewing and crocheting and keeping an immaculate home. She enjoyed the challenges of a new hobby, craft, game or trip. With her soft spoken voice and ready smile, she enjoyed the company of her many friends, near and far. But what she loved most was her family who brightened her life with their love.

Mum is lovingly remembered by daughter Darline (Lee) Schuff, Neenah; Jessie (Bill) Saenger, Brillion; grandchildren Sherry (Tom) Bayer, Two Rivers; Scott (Jean) Schuff, Rainier, Oregon; Sean (Carol) Schuff, Neenah; Mandy (Chad) Wendt, Brillion; great grandchildren Kurt (Beth) Schuff, Corvallis, Oregon; Katy (Josh) Blackwelder, Salt Lake City, Utah; Kris (Sophie) Schuff, Philomath, Oregon; Kory Schuff, Portland, Oregon; Kiana, Ashlyn and Taylor Wendt, Brillion; great-great granddaughters Aili Schuff, Corvallis, Oregon and Grace Schuff, Philomath, Oregon and many, many friends.

The family wants to thank ThedaCare At Home staff and especially mum's birthday soul-mate, Stacy, for the care and support they gave mum.

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me…… Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Psalm 23
