Coming from High Springs, he was a native of bell. He graduated from Bell High School. He was a retired automobile mechanic and former owner of Williams Garage of Meltrose. He was one of the original founders of the Melrose Fire Department. He was Past Worthy Master of the Melrose Masonic Lodge and Past President of the Melrose Lions Club. He was a member and Deacon of Eliam Baptist Church in Melrose and Sunday School Superintendent.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Phillips of Melrose; one daughter, Emma Jean Perry of Melrose; four sons, Gerald Williams of Starke, David Williams, Jimmy Williams, both of Gainesville, Donald Williams of Melrose; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. on monday, Jan. 22, 1996, with Rev. Jimmy Coyle officiating. Burial will follow at Eliam Cemetery in Melrose.
