Davis, Richard, Pioneer Kochville farmer died at 88 Years, Thursday.
A son of Jeremiah and Bridget Davis, he was born August 24, 1854 in Kochville on a farm his parents cleared. In his father's footsteps he took up farming, developing his own farm and accumulated three others in addition to the homestead, He received his education in the rural schools of the Township, and later served many years as a member of the school board. He took an active part in the Republican Party and frequently was a delegate from his Township. to conventions. A horse racing enthusiast, Mr. Davis owned a string of horses and often drove his own in races. For many years he bred Sphinx horses and trained them at his farm. He married Miss Elizabeth Martin, 10 March 1881. Leaves his wife, five sons and four daughters. Warren C., Roland, Nelson R, and Elmer Davis and Mrs. Nellie Gillman of Kochville. Thomas J. Davis of Rudyard, Michigan; Mrs. Stella Guthridge and Mrs. Marcella E. Smith of Detroit, Michigan; and Mrs. Mary A. Basheller of Fort Wayne, Indiana; one Brother, Frederick of Kochville; 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren. Mark T. Davis of Saginaw is a nephew. Funeral Saturday. Burial Oakwood Cemetery Saginaw
