The Painesville Telegraph dated 01 May 1884
(excerpts from a lengthy obit)
He was born at the Huntington homestead at Norwich, CT.
With his father he came to OH in 1801.
The family first settled at Cleveland and the farm occupied by them is now the site of Superior and other smaller streets. In 1807 the property at Cleveland was exchanged for the Walworth estate at Painesville, lying between Grand River and Lake Erie. At Gov. Huntington's death in 1817, this tract of land was divided between Colbert & Julian, and has ever since been retained by a member of his father's family.
Mr. Huntington married in May 1833, Eleanor Paine, of Chardon, who with one daughter, Mrs. Cornelia Greer, survives him. In 1861 he left his farm in the care of members of his family and moved to his home on Erie St., which he occupied continuously up to the time of his death.
A man of quick and clear perceptions, of sound judgment and simple tastes, he had a remarkable memory and was a great reader.
