Sofia Fedorova was born in Moscow 1879. She graduated in 1899 and made great success replacing Geltser in Don Quixote 1900. Her strong point was theatrical personality rather than technique. She left Moscow for St Petersburg in 1919 and after that moved to Paris in 1922. She danced with Diaghilev's Ballets Russes in it's first season 1909 and until 1928. She danced also in Anna Pavlova's company from 1925-26. In 1930 she suffered a nervous collapse and lived her life in obscurity.
