OIL, GAS PIONEER'S WIDOW DIES AT 85

Mrs. Alma Stephenson Davenport, 85, widow of Henry B. Davenport, a pioneer oil and gas operator in West Virginia and Texas, died today after an extended illness.
She had made her home at 1546 Kanawha Boulevard E since 1923, but had been a resident of Charleston for half a century.
She was a member of the Methodist Church, the DAR and the Colonial Dames.
Surviving are a son, Braxton Davenport of Charleston; a sister, Mrs. J. M. Lorentz of Charleston; and several nieces.
The funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home with the Rev. Truman Potter officiating and burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
The family requests that flowers be omitted.
