William was born, according to the birthday book of Eleanor Maria Ardley Blenkarn, on 21 Feb 1766. The Terrington Church register has him as being baptized the 21st Feb 1768, the son of Thomas Blenkarn. William was the third son of Thomas Blenkarn, a farmer, and Mary Beal (daughter of George Beal and Dorothy Dawson). He married Betty Goodrick at All Saints Church in Terrington on 1 Mar 1791. Betty was the fourth child of five born to George Goodrick (bap. 10 Sep 1727 at Terrington, Yorkshire, England) and Ann Stoper (d. 18 May 1795 at Terrington, Yorkshire, England). William and Betty had five children:

All of their sons went to London. Betty preceded William in death at the age of 72 years. When his wife, Betty died, William was present at the death and signed with an X. The certificate is No 120 in the district of Bulmer. William died 10 Jan 1850 at Terrington of apoplexy at the age of 84. This is certificate No 314 in the district of Bulmer. It said he was a tailor by trade.
