Mary was born in Ohio County, Virginia. With the out break of the Civil War, this became West Virginia. She was the daughter of William Merritt, 1780-1835 and Mary Long, 1783-1840.


Her husband was George Milligan, 1802-1884. Their son John R. Milligan, fought with the WV Calvary and died 11 Feb 1901.


George and John R Milligan are both buried in this same cemetery.
