Bertie S. Rogers
Leicester- Bertie Sealey Rogers, 92, formerly of Newfound Road, died Saturday, in an Asheville health care center.
A native of Haywood County, she had lived most of her life in Buncombe County. She was the daughter of the late David Oliver and Laura Catherine Parham Sealey, and wife of the late James Baxter Rogers who died in 1936.
Surviving are two daughters, Elsie Clement of Asheville and Edna Rainey of Louisville, Kentucky, a step-daughter Grace McFalls of Asheville, a son, James Rogers of of Asheville; a sister Lois Shook of Candler, two brothers, Leonard of Asheville and Claude Sealey of Leicester; 24 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchjildren and 15 great- great grandchildren.
Service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Zion Hill Baptist Church on Newfound Road, where she was a charter member. The Rev. Jackie Collins will officiate. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Groce Funeral Home, where the body will remain until 30 minutes before the service. At other times the family will be at the home of Elsie Clement, 618 Cedar Hill Road, Asheville.
Memorials may be made to Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Newfound Road, Route 1 Leicester.
