Isla Faye Eads was born February 17, 1927, the second of six children born to Melvin and Beulah Eads in McDonald County Missouri. She soared into heaven to meet her Savior face to face Saturday, August 28, 2010.

She attended eight years of elementary school in a two room schoolhouse in Banner, Missouri and four years of high school in Goodman, Missouri, graduating as valedictorian at each.

Upon taking a teacher examination she taught three years in her old elementary school in Banner and later one year at the elementary level in Goodman, Missouri. She attended Teacher College each summer from 1944 through 1948.

In the meantime she met and married Buford Hale Landon in 1946 and they moved to the State of Washington in 1948. She spent the next several years being a homemaker and mother of three children, Marilyn, Steve and Cheri. She taught them the values of being good citizens by being a leader in Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H and everyday life.

In 1966 she started work at the Post Office in Pasco, Washington, retiring in 1987 to spend 15 years of retirement with her husband, Buford. They enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping, and traveling as a family in the great Pacific Northwest and made many trips to Missouri and Oklahoma to visit relatives and friends with whom she grew up.

After Buford's passing in 2002, she moved to Hawthorne Court Retirement Center and was fortunate to find companionship a second time. She married Ralph Phillips in 2004, whom she had known for several years and who also lived at Hawthorne Court.

She was active in the Nazarene Church in Missouri as a young woman and attended the Nazarene Church in Kennewick, Washington until her health prevented it. She enjoyed membership in the Good Sam Travel Club, Ramblin Rovers, Auxiliary to Plumbers and Fitters and Basin Bloomers Garden Club. She also loved attending outings with retired Postal employees several times a year.

Her parents and both of her husbands precede her in death. She is survived by her children; daughter, Marilyn (Dave) Kaleikilo of Rockaway Beach, Oregon. Grandson, Chris (Molly) Kaleikilo, raising her two great-granddaughters, Emma and Malia Kaleikilo. Grandson, Randy (Rhonda) Kaleikilo are raising her two great-grandsons, London Kaleikilo and Max Olson. Isla's son, Steve (Cyndi) Landon of Richland, Washington are raising her three granddaughters, Lauren, Lyndsee, and McKae Landon. Daughter, Cheri (Ryan) Sorensen of Kennewick, Washington are raising her grandson, Camron Sanders and step-grandchildren, Bracken, Meghan and Paige Sorensen; siblings, Minerva Chester and Beatrice Barnes and Glen Eads of Goodman, Missouri, brother, Clyde (Ruth) Eads of Anderson, Missouri, sister Hattie (Tom) Bonebrake of Webb City, Missouri.

Isla moved to Tranquility Manner in December of 2009 where she was treated daily with compassionate care and dignity. We wish to thank the staff and friends at Tranquility as they became a loving part of our extended family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 3, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union in Kennewick, Washington.
