Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Private in the Union Army in Company B, 95th New York Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on August 21, 1864 at Weldon Railroad, Virginia. His citation reads "Captured two officers and 20 men of Hagood's brigade while they were endeavoring to make their way back through the woods."
