James Myers, 80, of Evansville, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, in a fire at his residence. His wife, Ruth, also died in the fire. He retired as a teacher and coach from the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corp. He was an assistant basketball coach at Central High School, before becoming head coach at Bosse High School in 1961-62. That first season, he coached the Bulldogs to a state championship title. He coached basketball for 23 years and was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.
