Elizabeth Murrish, daughter of William and Mara Murrish, was born in Cornwall, England, Dec 6, 1845, and died in Mineral Point Feb 8, 1931.
On April 6, 1848, Elizabeth Murrish and her parents came from Cornwall, England, to Shullsburg, Wis., where they resided for a short time, moving off to Mineral Point where they made their permanent home. On Dec 30, 1862, Elizabeth became the wife of Edward Fitzsimmons. They lived on a farm east of the city until 1894 when they moved into Mineral Point. Mr. Fitzsimmons died in 1921.
Mrs. Fitzsimmons was the mother of three sons and five daughters. One son, Richard, died October 17, 1921. Surviving are: William, Ira, Mrs. Joseph Beckerleg, Mrs. Dwight James, all of Mineral Point; Mrs. Thomas Mitchell, Mrs. W. H. Thomas and Mrs. Thomas Strutt, all of Dodgeville. She was grandmother to twenty-two children and great-grandmother to twenty-four. Three brothers also survive: Martin Murrish of Mineral Point, John of Kearney, Nebraska, and Albert of Hastings, Nebraska. One brother, William and one sister, Mrs. Alonza Phillips, preceded her in death.
The funeral services were held from the Methodist Episcopal church in Mineral Point, Tuesday afternoon, Rev. A. D. Willett officiating. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery.
