"PETTINGILL [sic] - Alma Ashley Pettingill [sic], aged 76, a resident of Genesee co for more than half a century, died this morning at her residence on the Carpenter rd. Death was due to a complication of diseases, after a five months' illness. She was born in Newark, N. Y., Feb. 22, 1846, the daughter of Samuel and Julia Ashley. On Jan. 16 [sic], 1869, she was married to Luther F. Pettingill [sic] at Mt. Morris twp. She was a member of the Methodist church. Beside her husband she leaves two daughters, Mrs. W. B. Clark, Saginaw; Mrs. Nellie Middleton, Flint; four grandsons and a great-granddaughter, Dorothy Middleton."
