Died suddenly Wednesday morning, January 26, 1994, at his home. He was 42. He was born July 17, 1951 in Caro. He married Renee E. Kratz on June 27, 1970 in Caro. He had been employed as a police officer with the Vassar Police Department, retiring in 1993 as Detective Sergeant. He was a licensed investigator and owned Hawkshaw Investigative Services. He was serving on the Vassar City Council and was a member of the Police Officers Association of Michigan. He also organized ENACT and helped organize the Thumb Narcotic Unit. He was also a member of the Vassar Fishing Club and an avid hunter and fly fisherman and also enjoyed woodworking in his shop.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Jeremy D. LaPratt of Vassar; his mother, Charlotte A. LaPratt of Caro; two brothers, Larry LaPratt of Grand Blanc and Danny LaPratt of Caro; his father in law and mother in law, Herman and Dorothy Kratz of Caro; four brothers in law and their wives, David and Jeanette Kratz of Kingston, James and Cathy Kratz of Caro, Douglas and Diane Kratz of Virginia and Kevin Kratz of Brighton; sister in law, Carol Shaver of Caro; godfather to Lindsy Morgan Hall; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and several aunts and uncles. His father, Arthur, predeceased him in June 1985.
Funeral services were held on Saturday January 29, 1994 at Clark Funeral Home with Rev. John Becker officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Vassar
