Dorothy Wynn Hires, 87, of Jesup, GA, died Saturday, August 25, 2012, in the Golden Living Center after an extended illness.
The Fulton Co., GA, native had lived in Wayne Co., GA, most of her life, was a member of the Jesup First United Methodist Church, and was a former employee of Sea Island Shirt Company. Dot was known for her seamstress work in quilt making as gifts, was the widow of T. G. Hires and was predeceased by a grandson: William "Bill" Hires, a sister: Mary Crews and a brother: Robert Wynn.
Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law: Luther and Sally Hires of Jesup, GA, 4 grandchildren: Kathy H. Gouvera of Myrtle Beach, SC, Teddy (Carrie) Hires, Amy (Damian) Blalock, and Linda Hires, all of Jesup, GA, great-grandchildren: Joseph and Joshua Hires, Calista Moore and Teagan Hires, Web and Cam Blalock, all of Jesup, GA, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 A. M. Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at the Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Byron Scott officiating. Interment will be in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Ronny Cooksey, Larry Westberry, Kenneth Westberry, Jason Teston, Joseph Hires, Joshua Hires, Teddy Hires, and Damian Blalock. Honorary pallbearers will be: Fellow Law Enforcement officers, and the staff of Golden Living Center.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 P. M. Monday from the funeral home.
