Harrison was the son of Thomas and Mary Sanford Holmes. He was their 4th child. Harrison married Mary Ann Casey (who later remarried a Wulff), and they were the parents of one known child, Stearns (1849-1869). Here is his obituary printed in the Bradford (Pa.) Era, September 12, 1911, pg. 5:

Harrison Holmes Dead

Harrison Holmes, aged 75 years, died at his home, No. 6 Jaynes Place, Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock after a brief illness. A recent stroke of paralysis was the principal cause of his death. Deceased was born at Sardinia, N.Y. on November 18, 1836, and he had lived in Bradford for the past 40 years. He was a carpenter by trade and for many years was employed in the construction work of the Erie railroad. Mr. Holmes was the last of a family of nine children. He was a member of the First Baptist church, and was a well known and highly respected citizen. He is survived by his widow. The funeral arrangements will be announced later.
