MAGOFFIN COUNTY — Ellis Shepherd, 81, of Salyersville, died Saturday, March 24, 2007 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center, Paintsville. Born June 12, 1925, in Magoffin County, he was a son of the late Jimmy and Virgie Shepherd. He was a retired state employee and of the Baptist faith. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Grace Shepherd; and two brothers, Roy Hicks and Lynburg Hale.
Survivors include his wife, Leatha Shepherd of Salyersville; a stepson, Junior Shepherd of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Jessie Hale of Ypsilanti, Mich., and Rubin Hale of Mt. Sterling; and three sisters, Bonnie Mae Crisp of Banner, Peachie Hardy of Arizona, and Opal Hale of Ypsilanti.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 28, at Brushy Fork Missionary Baptist Church with Ollie Watts officiating. Burial will be in Shepherd Cemetery, Brushy Fork, under direction of Magoffin County Funeral Home, Salyersville.
