Funeral Services Today for Mrs. Caroline Lester-Seneca Falls
Funeral services for Mrs Caroline Foote Lester, 94, a member of one of Seneca Falls prominent families and one of the oldest residents of the village, who died Saturday forenoon, were held this afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home, 61 Cayuga street. Rev, Robert D Merrill, pastor of the First Presbyterian church officiated and burial was made in Restvale cemetery.
Mrs. Lester was the widow of Dr. Elias Lester, one of Seneca Falls early physicians and surgeons. Deceased was the daughter of Dr. Jarred Foote and Eliza Clarke Foote and was born in the Town of Venice, Cayuga county on August 5, 1841.
Dr. and Mrs. Lester came to Seneca Falls in Oct 1865. Mrs. Lester was the oldest member of the First Presbyterian church and was honorary president of the women's missionary society of the church. She was a charter member of the Seneca Falls Fortnightly Club and was a member of Sa-Go-Ye-Wat-Ha chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.
