Elijah Woosley started his work career as a farmer on his father-in-law's farm, then taught school before becoming a bookkeeper in Marshall County, AL.

Lige and his family moved to McMinnville in 1934, where he was a bookkeeper and owner in the automotive business. He bought the 110 Lind Street lot on November 23, 1936. In the 1950's, he was appointed the city judge and city recorder (treasurer?), which posts he held for many years.

Lige was well liked and respected in the McMinville area, professionally and personally. He loved to tell stories, make people laugh, "saucer" his coffee, and smoke cigarettes. He also loved to garden and filled his yard with beautiful flowers...his favorites were dahlias.
