Jessie L. Ellis, 68, died at a local hospital at 2:55 Tuesday afternoon, after 11 weeks of illness.
Mr. Ellis was born at Fannin and lived in that community all of his life. He was employed as night watchman for the Great Southern Box Factory. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and of the Fannin Baptist church.
He is survived by his wife and eight children. Five sons, Lewis, Tommie, Walter and Blant Ellis, all of Jackson, Pfc. Thermond Ellis with the U. S. Army at Camp Davis, North Carolina. Three daughters, Mrs. O. P. Coleman, Mrs. W. R. Foreshee, and Miss Bethany Ellis, all of Jackson. Three brothers, L. D. (Red) Ellis of Jackson. J. N. Ellis of Jackson, and J. H. Ellis of Dallas, Texas. One sister, Mrs. J. G. Wirtz of Jackson.
The remains will lie in state at the Taylor Funeral Home in Jackson until 1:30 Thursday afternoon when a brief prayer service will be held. Funeral rites will be said at the Fannin Baptist church. Internment will follow in the Fannin cemetery. Rev. A. W. Talbot and Rev. W. B. Alsworth will officiate.
Pallbearers will be E. L. Spann, John .White, D. M. McKinley, Hemby White, Dexter Patterson. John Williamson, J. B. Colum, and Will Swilley.
