When Laura Georgia Edgar Nix Stephenson was born on October 16, 1884 in Tallahoma, Tennessee, her father, William, was 54 and her mother, Mary, was 42 yr.

According to our family's research, Laura's mother passed away at the early age of 45, and Laura was about 3 years old and left with her father, a retired Confederate soldier and a younger brother Emmitt a few years younger. It may be that their mother passed after childbirth complications in 1887.

She married Walter Logan in 1905 in Tennessee while he was going to medical school there. She had four children by the time she was about 32 yr. She died on December 26, 1960, in Alva, Oklahoma, at the age of 76, and was buried there.

I remember my Grandmother Laura Stephenson as a very tidy housekeeper, very quiet and very serious. She often wore a bib apron covering her long dress and was constantly wiping with her hands and straightening herself. Her small home in Alva was a small bungalow type home with a big porch that I don't remember her using. Rest In Peace Grandmother Stephenson. You came from a wonderful family with a rich Tennessee heritage. (C.Shelhamer)
