SHAMEL, Gladys P. - Age 84, of Holiday, Florida and Linden, died Wednesday, September 11, 1996 in Florida. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Monday, September 16, 1996 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Bowles-Sharp Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad Street, Pastor Elwin Washburn, Argentine Assembly of God Church, officiating. Interment in Flint Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home 1-5 and 7-9 PM Sunday.
Mrs. Shamel was born November 23, 1911 in Missouri, the daughter of James D. and Dora L. (Hodge) Baker. She married Lowell (Don) Shamel in Flint on November 24, 1934. Mrs. Shamel was the owner of Hide-Away Park Campground in Linden since 1953.
She is survived by: husband, Lowell; daughter, Mabel D. Petrie of Linden; grandson, Charles and wife Lynnie Petrie of Linden; 2 great grandsons, Eric and Jason Petrie of Linden; 3 sisters, Lena Frost of Floria, Illinois, Opal Goodwin of New Port Richey, Florida, Lillian Cowles of Fenton; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and 6 brothers.
