Lavon H. Hall, age 82, of Lancaster, died on Thursday, January 19, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA. She was born on September 2, 1929, on the family farm in Grant County, the daughter of Earl and Beatrice (Brandemuehl) Hoffman.

Lavon attended country school and graduated from Lancaster High School. She furthered her education at business school in Milwaukee. On January 20,1951, Lavon was united in marriage to Lavon C. Hall, her high school sweet heart. After their marriage, Lavon raised her family.

She was a bookkeeper for the Orange Crush Pop Factory of Lancaster and she later began employment at the Independent, where she undertook a variety of duties. She was a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church. Lavon had a passion for her family as well as genealogy. She housed a large portion of the Grant County Historical library. Local history was very important to her and she served on many local organizations and committees to preserve such history.

In addition to her husband, Lavon was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David A. Beam; three sisters: Marian (Curt) Welch, Joanne (Duane) Schneider, and Lois Alcorn; and a brother-in-law, David Alt.

Funeral services will be on Monday, January 23, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Sunday, January 22, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home in Lancaster and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
