Lydia M. Schuckman, 89, La Crosse, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at Rush County Nursing Home, La Crosse.

She was born Aug. 3, 1922, in Loretto to John J. and Margaret C. (Dinkel) Stegman. She was a lifelong resident of Rush and Ness counties.

She married Alfred M. "Freddie" Schuckman on Feb. 8, 1943, in Loretto. He preceded her in death Jan. 28, 2008. She was a senior companion at Rush County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care, La Crosse, prior to retirement.

Survivors include a daughter, Joan M. Schulz and husband, Jerry, La Crosse; two brothers, Hubert Stegman, Scappoose, Ore., and Norbert Stegman, Wichita; three grandchildren, Judy Bielby and husband, Kurt, Liberty, Mo., James Schulz, Lawrence, and Jennifer Vath and husband, Scott, Olathe; and four great-grandchildren, Anna Wilson, Zachary Schulz, Benjamin Wilson and Charles Vath.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Linus Stegman; and five sisters, Leona Krmela, Mary Stegman, Armella Graf, Isabelle Boucher and Rosaline McAfee.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church, La Crosse; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Liebenthal.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

A vigil/rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Shrine Inc., Loretto, or Rush County Nursing Home, La Crosse, in care of the funeral home.
