Son of Jorgen Simon Rasmusen Homborstad and Ales Eriksdatter Berstad; his birth record can be found in the parish records of Davik in Davik, Sogn og Fjordane fylke, Norway, Book 1, page 8 (available online at the Norwegian Digital Archives). This record indicates, as does that of his brother Olai Elias Jorgenson, that Ales and Jorgen were not married. According to Bagley Cemetery records Peder is buried next to Christ Helseth, Jacob Helseth, Elina Helseth, and Jens Helseth in lot 10, row 9, block A. (Christ's is grave 1, Elina's is grave 3, Jacob's is grave 4, Peder's is grave 5, and Jens's is grave 7.)
