Daughter of Joseph Dixon Denmark and his (1st) wife, Frances "Fannie" Lewis (1816-1843), who was sister to his (2nd) wife, Patience "Pachia" Lewis (1825-1913), both daughters of Urban Lewis (1786-1846) and his wife, Susan Casey of Wayne Co, NC.

Rebecca married (1st) to farmer, Blaney Coor Howell, CSA (Pvt, NC 4th Regiment) who was killed during the Civil War at Plains Station, VA on November 23, 1861. They were parents of one child:

* Rose Ellen Howell (1860-1916) who married (1st) James Smith (ca. 1864-1890) of Wayne County; and married (2nd) to John "Johnny" William Parker on December 25, 1883. She had children by both husbands. Johnny Parker married two more times after Rose Ellen's death in 1916.

Rebecca married (2nd) to Thomas James Hardison (ca. 1837-1880) by whom she had 5 known children:

* Fanny Dixon Hardison (ca. 1868-1902)
* Joseph D. Hardison (ca. 1870-1885/1888)
* Mary E. Hardison (1873-1956)
* Annie P. Hardison (ca. 1876)
* Rebecca T. Hardison (ca. 1879)
