"Death last week claimed two aged residents of the town of Maryland within twenty-four hours of each other, both victims of pneumonia ... Charles B. Milks was born in the town of Westford, January 17, 1847, the son of Elkanah and Mary Griswold Milks. He was a farmer and for many years the family resided on the Elk Creek-Westford road. Mr. Milks is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Eldora Lawson, who resides in the west. A double funeral service was conducted at the home at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon, the Rev. Robert E. Fletcher, pastor of the Schenevus Methodist church, officiating. Burial was made in the Elk Creek Cemetery." [The Otsego Farmer & Republican (Cooperstown, N.Y.), Feb 6 1931, p. 6]
