"Death last week claimed two aged residents of the town of Maryland within twenty-four hours of each other, both victims of pneumonia. Julia Agnes Chase Milks, wife of Charles Milks, died Thursday morning at her late home, near Elk Creek, and her husband, Charles B. Milks, succumbed to pnenmonia on Friday morning. They were married January 1, 1876. To them were born two children, Oscar Milks who died in July, 1911, and Mrs. Frank Chickering of Hornell. They are survived by two granddaughters, Ruth Chickering of Hornell and Irene Milks of Westford. Mrs. Milks was born in the town of Westford, December 11, 1847, the daughter of Horace and Julia (Groff) Chase. The Chase family was one of the early pioneer settlers in thst section. Besides the daughter and grandchildren mentioned above, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. R. F. Hubbard of Elk Creek, and one brother, G. W. Chase of Schenevus, and numerous nephews and nieces ..."
