Moby was a stray cat who wandered into the hearts of our next door neighbors and stayed for the rest of his life.

When we moved next door he was the first one who greeted us. A friendly cat, he greeted everyone by walking over and allowing them to pet him.

He enjoyed climbing up on the hood of our car in order to watch me working in the kitchen. Sometimes I'd see him in the dark, watching me. I'd open the blinds and curtains to talk to him and he'd respond by closing his eyes slowly in that special way he had.

The management changed the rules and all pets had to be confined indoors, so his owners enclosed their patio with windows so that Moby wouldn't feel confined and could look in all directions. He spent his entire day and sometimes early evenings in his new outdoor room.

He enjoyed watching people walk by and eyed the birds and squirrels who were still free. His owners provided him with tables, chairs, his bed and a catnip plant growing nearby for him to nibble on, along with his food and water.

Moby's favorite food was spaghetti and meatballs. He'd get excited when he detected the aroma of the sauce cooking, and he kept his eyes on the cook at all times. When they filled his bowl with chopped meatballs and spaghetti he started licking his lips. He ate every bit of it and licked his bowl clean. He loved eating peas as well.

I loved when he made a soft "meow" and squinted his beautiful eyes when he greeted us. We miss you, Moby...

He is gone now, but I still look out the kitchen window hoping he'll be there watching me.
Love you, Moby, we will always remember you.
