Bruce M. Mathna, 80, of 18 Scrafford Street, Shippensburg, died Feb. 29, 2004, in Shippensburg Health Care Center. Born Feb. 29, 1924, in Mongul, Franklin County, to the late William Henry and Mary E. Runshaw Mathna. Member of the Mongul United Brethren Church, Shippensburg; Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Retired in June of 1979 from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg. U.S. Army veteran (World War II). Life member of the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post #6168; post member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223. longtime Boy Scout assistant and leader of Troop #251, Shippensburg. Survived by: wife of 58 years, Jean E. Mowery Mathna; sons, Robert B. (His wife: Karin L.) Mathna Sr. Shippensburg, Larry L. (his wife: Victoria A.) Mathna, Shippensburg, Dennis R. (his wife: Margie J.) Mathna, Shippensburg; brother, Rev. Frank L. Mathna, Shippensburg; sister, Edna P. VanScyoc, Shippensburg; grandchildren, Robert Mathna Jr., Shippensburg, Dana Mathna, Shippensburg, Erin Chavez, Shippensburg, Lynn Watson, Conway, AR, Stephanie Kern, Colorado Springs, CO, Rose Mathna, Shippensburg, Beth Mathna, Shippensburg; eight great grandchildren. Preceded in death by: sister, Ruth Mathna; brothers, John and Harry Mathna; granddaughter, Kathy Ann Mathna. Burial with military services, conducted by the Shippensburg American Legion and VFW posts, Mongul Cemetery, Southampton Township, Franklin County.
