Suggested edit: A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend, Abby Mee Headrick, peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on Monday, June 20, 2022.

Born in San Angelo, TX, on January 3, 1931, Abby was the daughter of Mary B. Mee and Eddie Mee, Sr. She graduated from San Angelo High School where she met her husband of 49 years, the late Harold Eugene Headrick. She continued her education at the University of Texas before marrying Harold in 1951. Harold and Abby had 5 children. Being a military family, Harold and Abby moved often. Even with the frequent moves, they made time for the traveling and camping they loved doing with their young family. In 1971, they finally settled in Laurel, MS.

Abby spent the majority of her working career as a teacher's assistant in various schools but her sweet disposition will be well-remembered by those who were fortunate enough to have known her from the Yogurt Parlor in Laurel where she worked for several years after her retirement. Abby was a faithful member of St. John's Episcopal Church for 52 years, where she was also a member of The Order of Daughters of the King. Abby was a devout Christian who faithfully served the Lord and her Christianity was reflected in her gentleness, love, and patience. Always humble, Abby truly appreciated each blessing bestowed upon her and her family.

Abby always offered a listening ear, and her words of response were genuine but comforting and exactly what one needed to hear. She embodied the gift of nurturing; a mother to all. Whether family, friends or strangers, young or old, everyone loved to visit and talk with "Mrs. Abby." At every sporting event, activity, or function, Abby was smiling, laughing and talking with the person beside her as they chatted about family and life.

Abby loved many things in life, but she truly cherished family. Abby especially loved watching her kids and grandchildren play sports; she was an avid sports fan and everyone's cheerleader. During a college sports interview, one grandchild said, "I have my family to thank for pushing me to be such an athlete, the most influential person being my grandmother."

Abby was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Eddie Mee, Jr. and sister-in-law, Audrey "Aunt Chatham" Miller Mee.

She is survived by her five children: Hal Headrick (Janie), Tim Headrick (Angie), Mike Headrick, Abby Luckado (Colin), and Tom Headrick (Marleen).

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jennifer R. Bond, Angie G. Fuentes, Sara Lea Behrendt, Jenna Headrick Yelverton, Chase Headrick, Ashley Luckado Cowgar, Colin Luckado, Dylan Luckado, Cody Luckado, Catie Luckado, Chris Headrick, Fallon Headrick, and Gabriella Dantoni. She is also survived by a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation and a memorial service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church in Laurel, MS on Thursday, June 23, 2022, with visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m. and the memorial service at 3:00 p.m., followed by graveside service at Hickory Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Chase Headrick, Colin Luckado, Dylan Luckado, Cody Luckado, Chris Headrick, and Rase Jones.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Order of Daughters of the King through St. John's Episcopal Church.
