Joy Damek, 78, of Tucson, Arizona went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 9, 2012.

Joy was born on March 5, 1933, in Richland, Texas. She met and married John Damek, Jr. in Houston, Texas where they lived until residing in Dayton, Texas for the majority of their lives. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dayton and worked briefly at the Liberty County Clerks Office and the Dayton Library. Joy, a loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. Four years ago Joy and her husband, John, moved to Tucson, Arizona to live near her son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Martha Damek.

Mrs. Damek was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John Damek, Jr., her parents, James Glover Cessna and Ada Stevens Cessna, and her brother, James Cessna.

She is survived by daughter, Cynthia Damek Fernandez and husband, Philip, of Riverview, Florida and son, Keith Damek and wife, Martha of Tucson, Arizona along with grandchildren Lauren Fernandez, Philip G. Fernandez, and Ryan Damek, one sibling, Wilma Peoples, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 13, 2012 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, 1304 N. Cleveland (Hwy. 321) in Dayton, Texas. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home with interment to follow at Magnolia Park Cemetary, Dayton, Texas.
