Merle Lee Smith, beloved Sister,Mother,Grandmother,and friend,passed away at the age of 82 on Augest 22nd,2004 in Yakima, Washington. She was born on January 8th,1922 in Garland,Box Elder County,Utah to the parents of Thomas William and Eva Amanda James Lee. Merle's sibblings were Edna,Lucile,Thomas,Leona and Dale Lee.Merle worked for Remington Arms in Salt Lake City in 1942,and became close friends with the Hardy Family. Minnie Hardy and Merle became the best of friends.The Hardy's became her second family during those years.Merle traveled to Richmond,California with the Hardy's,and
stayed with her family during 1943, where she went to work at The Standard Oil Company,After leaving California and spending a few months in Toppenish,Washington visiting family,Merle began business School in January of 1947 in Salt Lake City, living once again with the Hardy Family.In 1948, Merle took advantage of a job opportunity, and moved to Toppenish,Washington where she began working at a Sugar Company,living there for the rest of her life, She Married Lowell Smith on June 2nd,1979 where they shared many years of happiness together.Merle became a Mother and Grandmother to Lowell's children and Grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Lowell preceeded her in death. Merle was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served in many Church callings. Merle's Funeral took place on Saturday, Augest 28th,2004 at 10;00 AM at the LDS Church she attended in Toppenish,Washington.Merle was buried in the Zillah Cemetery in Zillah,Washington folowing Funeral Services.
