He was born September 6, 1929 in Louisville, IL to Thaddeus Steven and Ruth (Rinehart) Dawkins.
He was retired from the City of Flora Gas Department, had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was a member of the Flora American Legion Post #14. Glen enjoyed his morning coffee at Huck's and going to Grandma's Kitchen.
He is survived by his companion: Delta Jean Ferguson; three sons: Ed, Kevin, and Tim Dawkins; two daughters: Brenda McDonald, Janna Snyder; a brother: Jack Dawkins; ten grandchildren: Amber, Jodi, Matt, Amy, Casey, Zack, Jordan, Jami, Chris, Kyle; and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers (Max, Frank and Darrell Dawkins), and a sister (Frieda Acree).
The funeral service for Glen Dawkins was held at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.
Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora, with military honors.
The family has requested that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
