Capo in the Mangano Mafia Family of Brooklyn, NY. The Mangano Family was named after Philip's older brother Vincent who was the Boss of the Family from 1931 until his death. On April 19,1951, Philip was found shot to death in a marsh near Jamaica Bay in Brooklyn, NY. His brother Vincent disappeared that same day. Vincent's body has never been found. It is believed that both were murdered on the orders of Albert Anastasia, who was the Family's Underboss at that time. After the murders Anastasia seized control of the Family and remained the Boss until his own murder in 1957.
