At the time of his birth, the area was known as Batzwitz, Pommern (Pomerania), a Province of Prussia that stretched over present day Germany and Poland. Today, the small village is called Baszewice, in the Gmina (administrative district) Gryfice, within Gryfice County, Western Pomeranian Voivodeship (province) in northwestern Poland, very close to the Baltic Sea.

On 23 March 1881, he, his parents, Wilhelm and Frederike Prust Luedtke, and his siblings Charles (Carl) and Bertha, left their village and sailed aboard the Wieland from Hamburg, Germany for New York City, arriving on 7 April 1881. They then made their way to Morrison, Brown County, Wisconsin and built a family farm.

Frank and Lena Nohr married on 27 September 1906. They made their home on a farm in Glenmore, Brown County, Wisconsin, and welcomed 3 children, Ethel, Harold and Edward.

Frank died suddenly while he and others were sawing wood on Eugene O'Leary's New Denmark farm.

Note: there is some confusion regarding his birth date. He's listed as being 11 months old on the ship manifests, one noting the family's departure on 23 Mar 1881, the other noting the family's arrival on 7 April 1881. That would suggest he was born in May 1880. However, he lists his birthday as 3 November 1880 on his WWI Draft Registration and on his Naturalization application, and his headstone states he was born in 1879. I'm seeking additional records regarding his birth date but I'm choosing to use 3 Nov 1880 as his date of birth since that matches information provided by Frank.
