LaVerda Read Young Jarvis, 84, of Kuna, died Sunday, July 26, at home. Mrs. Jarvis was born Sept. 1, 1902, at Coyote, Utah, to Alva and Irene Read. She moved at the age of 3 with her family to Oreana, where she was reared and educated. She attended Boise High School and Boise Business College. She married John O. Young April 30, 1920, and their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in 1953. They lived in several Western states, where he worked in construction and she as a homemaker. They moved to Nampa in 1946. He died June 9, 1975. She married Albert Jarvis in 1976 and they lived in Mesa, Ariz., where they worked as ordinance workers at the LDS temple. He died in 1981 and she moved to Kuna, where she had since resided. She was an active member of the LDS Church serving as Relief Society president, teaching in several of the auxiliaries and serving as a visiting teacher for 67 years. She was also a member of the Nampa Lita Club.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, J.O. and Pearl Young Jr. of Riviera, Ariz., Read and Kaye Young of Nampa and H. Dale and Helen Young of Granger, Utah; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and S.E. Garrison of Kuna; two sisters. Carol Flake and Lova Davis, both of Boise; a brother, Forrest Read of Idaho City: 27 grandchildren: 96 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, a grand-daughter, three sisters and two brothers.
