Mildred Elma Read Kane was born to Alva Read and Irene King Read in Coyote, Garfield, Idaho on 8 October 1896. She married Preston (William) Arnold Kane on October 30, 1919 in Boise, Idaho. Together they had eleven children, Alma and Alva (twins), Helen I, Robert L, Glen A, LaRita (Patty), Violet V, Donna M, Shirley J, Mary L. and Grant R., all raised in the Idaho area. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in many positions throughout her life. She died at her home peacefully in Boise on July 27, 1977.
