Opal was a homemaker, mother, beauty shop owner/operator, and the primary support for her family after a car wreck in 1946 that left her husband with only one good arm and limited speech and walking. She moved with her husband to Tullahoma for a few years while he worked for his brother, but they returned to Aroney, AL, where she continued operating a beauty shop until she retired to Albertville. She was an excellent cook and hostess! Opal and A.D. married on January 9, 1936, had one son, Jimmy Ronald, and celebrated 66 years of marriage before Opal died in 2002.
